About Us
We work on many different activities. Here is a list of our committees: DMV Quilts, Education, Fair Booth, Fair Demo Booth, Hospitality, Member Liasion, Newsletter, Gaming, Raffle, Retreat, Secret Pals, Service Quilts and Quilt Camp. Join a committee!
RETREAT NEWS:
Our October 2009 retreat was held October 15-18, 2009 at Camp Maranathas. The cost was $175 for the four days and you could sew 24 hours a day on any projects you wished to bring. Vickie Mitchell or Diana Fraley at (907) 745-2500 or 232-7415 helped organize a very successful retreat this year. Plan on joining us next year.
EDUCATION NEWS:
Meetings are held every 3rd Thursday of the month at Pandemonium in Wasilla, in front of Home Depot @ 7 pm. Everyone is invited to attend.
CLASSES: In November we will have Raw-Edge Applique (2 methods- "lick and stick" and template) by Tami Bovy.
Quilt Camp @ Camp Carlquist, Mirror Lake: May 6 - 9th. Contact Kathy Buirge or Sharon Berna for more information.
SERVICE COMMITTEE NEWS:
At the present time, we have quite a few quilts ready to be quilted or tied. To reduce our backlog, we will have a quilt and supplies available for members to tie before and during the monthly Guild meetings. We invite everyone to gather 'round the table and spend a few minutes tying while you chat before the meeting.
The Service Cart contains kits with blocks to sew together as well as tops that need borders, quilting and binding. We furnish the fabric and batting and ask Guild members to donate their labor. There are also some "Juice Quilt" kits - those that will get the creative juices flowing to piece. Feel free to browse the Service Cart and choose a kit you would like to work on.
*****Service Fabric Store ****
The "store" is located in the back room of the Depot and Guild members are invited to visit before the monthly Guild meeting or during Open Sew. Members of the Service Committee are at the Depot from noon until meeting time on the monthly meeting days and during the first hours of Open Sew. Feel free to bring a pattern that you would like to try, choose Service fabric, make the quilt or quilt top, and then donate it to Service.
